When you’re shopping for a mouthwash, look for one that has the American Dental Association seal on the label. This means that the manufacturer has provided scientific evidence that shows is both safe and effective. The ADA Council on Scientific Affairs has evaluated it according to its own objective requirements.

There are a few things to remember about any mouthwash. First, it should never be given to children under the age of six unless directed by a dentist. Kids have a way of swallowing mouthwashes (and other liquids) without meaning to.
